What Differentiates AFUED from Other Universities: Insight from Acting VC Prof. Akintunde
At the recent matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 part-time degree students, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Prof. Samuel Akintunde, highlighted the institution’s commitment to excellence in academics and character development.
Speaking at the symbolic event held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Prof. Akintunde emphasized that what differentiates AFUED from other universities is its strong focus on high academic standards, supported by qualified and committed academic and non-academic staff.
He proudly stated that AFUED provides a flexible learning environment that supports part-time students in balancing their education with work and family responsibilities. “Being a part-time student is not a lesser path,” he said. “It is a flexible route toward the same academic and professional success.”
A Commitment to Quality and Integrity
The Acting VC further described AFUED as a Centre of Excellence in teacher education, known for its structured and enriching learning experience. “We have put systems in place to ensure that students, regardless of their mode of study, receive quality instruction and full support from our staff,” he added.
He encouraged the new students to approach their studies with dedication and integrity. Prof. Akintunde reminded them that the matriculation oath is not just a formality, but a commitment to uphold the values of respect, honesty, and academic discipline.
Upholding Moral and Academic Standards
Addressing the importance of discipline, he reiterated that the university maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards exam malpractice, cultism, and all forms of misconduct. “Let your time here be guided by purpose, peace, and progress,” he urged.
The Registrar of AFUED, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, officially administered the matriculation oath. The ceremony was well-attended by university dignitaries, including the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Olufemi Olajuyigbe, the Acting Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin, the Acting Librarian, Dr. Adeola Afolabi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Oyenike Oyinloye.
Also present were Dr. A.A. Shuaibu, Director of Continuing Education and Part-time Studies, Dr. Akinyemi Akinbobola of the Governing Council, and other key staff from Senate, Staff Matters, and Public Relations directorates.
